杏桃鬆餅屋 UZNA OMOM
No. 16, Alley 19, Lane 216 Zhongxiao East Road Sec. 4. 忠孝東路四段216巷19弄16號
Uzna Omom is hidden inside the alley ways of the busy district of Taipei. On this hot summer day after our shopping haul at Breeze Center we decided to try our luck and see is it possible to get a spot in this popular pancake place.
When we arrived we were told that it was a full house for lunch time but we could leave our phone number with them. If they have no shows, they would give us a call. I was hungry and tired from all the shopping so we decided to have the Taiwanese Tradition squid stew while we wait. After 25 mins or so, we sat down with our pancake menu.
The shop was bigger than I imagined but tables were set closely to each other and it was quite hard to get in and out. (oops may be I am too fat) The wait staff here were attentive and they gave you suggestions on what you should choose when you had your indecisive time.
Uzna Omom was originated from Japan (located around Omotesando). Japanese pancakes … ummm nom .. It has been a few years since I last visited Japan. But on my trip to Melbourne, the pancakes from the pancake parlor were the highlight of the trip.
sweet pancakes, savory pancakes, buttermilk pancakes, souffle pancakes, pancakes, pancakes, pancakes everywhere.
On this cute birdie plate was this artistic arrangement of a pineapple. It was our BLT pancake ( TWD $250) include a drink below $160 a very good price for a meal. We shared this and it was actually quite filling and the pancake was Fuwa and mochi. nah-ha still wasn’t us good as the one I had in Melbourne.
Can you tell that was a face that I rearranged with my BLT pancake.
Fresh veggie to ensure a balance diet along with meat and the pancake
I do recommend this !!
The tea sets that they used were so pretty, I couldn’t help but took loads of pictures.
I ordered the blue berries fruite tea which didn’t really tasted like blueberries but it was kinda fruity along with the lemon.
My friend ordered the floatie green tea, it came with a jar of concentrated green tea and two scoop of vanilla ice cream. The green tea was very rich in flavor whereas the ice cream made from Hokkaido milk Ta-Da the perfect combination of a summer green tea drink.
The limited edition of Souffle pancake which was unique to Taiwan store. It came in single (TWD 220) or double deck (TWD 250). Since it was freshly made and a 20 mins wait is required.
wowhoo it was such a big think pancake, if I didn’t look at the menu I would sure mistaken it as a chiffon / sponge cake. It’s texture was somewhere between the two not as hard as a chiffon but not as spongey as a sponge. However, it taste exactly like a cake with overwhelmed egg flavor. Worth a try, but wasn’t as good as other plates we tried and we couldn’t finish it.
We ended our brunch with a nice apricot pancake. I would said the apricot cream cheese was more than delicious and it went superbly well with the pancake. They also had a sugar coated banana pancake, I will come back for that one later.
In Uzna Omom, they served wine as well as they matched it with some of the pancakes.
