The famous Yuzu Japanese Kitchen near Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall station had opened it’s sister store 豚膳on Yanji Street. Obviously Kurobuta pork from Taitung is their main selling point, but they also have chicken and seafood side dishes. Since it was a gloomy day in Taipei all of us ordered the shabu sets. The shabu set comes with a vegetable platter, a plate of kurobuta pork, rice / noodles and dessert. By paying $240 more you will get a plate of sashimi, chawamushi and three deep fried skewers.
However, I highly recommend this deep fired soft boiled egg $40 , drooling…..
all the dishes and the pots were a bit over crowded on the table.
the shabu doesn’t come with any soy sauce or the other sauces you usually see in hotpot or shabu places. They have this special dashi stock (kombu & Katsuobushi) plus chives and a special made Yuzu spice paste. Highly recommend their handmade ramen it’s al dente …
Last but not least, desserts they have two choices of grapefruit jelly and soy milk pudding
the grapefruit jelly was great with overwhelming amount of grapefruit on it, I didn’t try the soy milk pudding.
This place is worth a try but I do still prefer Ben Shabu more.
